Israel Institute Teaching Fellow (2021-2022)
Vered Weiss is the Israel Institute Teaching Fellow for 2021-2022.
After completing her B.A. in Comparative and English Literature at Tel Aviv University, Israel, Weiss earned her M.A. in Comparative and World Literature from San Francisco State University, followed by a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK. Weiss proceeded to join the Program in Jewish Culture and Society at the University of Illinois as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Subsequently, Weiss worked as adjunct lecturer at The Department of Multidisciplinary Studies at Sapir Academic College, Israel. During the past couple of years, as the Israel Institute Teaching Fellow at SFSU Weiss was lecturer at the Department of Comparative and World Literature and the Department of Jewish Studies. Weiss currently holds a one-year position as the Israel Institute Teaching Fellow at Sonoma State University. Her fields of interest include Israeli and world literatures and cultures, spatiality and narrative empathy, myths, horror, science fiction and fantasy.
